Wolf Vostell (Leverkusen, 1932-Berlín, 1998), artista multimedia, desarrolló su vida y su obra entre sus estudios de Alemania (Colonia, Berlín) y Extremadura (Malpartida de Cáceres, donde fundó un museo). A partir de los años cincuenta fue pionero en Europa de los nuevos comportamientos artísticos como happening, fluxus, vídeo-arte… bajo el principio estético Arte=Vida/Vida=Arte. Importante epígono del arte dadaísta, del surrealista y de un expresionismo propio, su principio generador se basó en la técnica del dé-coll/age y la utilización del hormigón como configurador de una nueva obra, uniendo o ensamblando elementos despegados, o desechos previamente recogidos de nuestra civilización de consumo, para crear metáforas de la violencia bélica, del sexo, de la muerte y de otros fenómenos que nos rodean, y desarrollar un arte moral.
